Take an Unmapped Out Road Trip

Well, it feels good to break through the first 10 and on to 11 although I’m definitely losing steam! One Saturday afternoon in April, Kelly and I were lounging around the house being unproductive and bored. It seemed like a great opportunity to check one off the list. The kind of opportunities that are fewer and further between once you start a family. We loaded up the car for an overnight stay and headed out to nowhere in particular. We made a quick stop on the way out of a town at QT to stock up on some road trip snacks: Twizzlers, sunflower seeds and 32 ounce drinks. We drove in multiple directions for awhile, mostly east, and then made our first stop in Chouteau, Oklahoma for some Amish jerky, cheese tasting, and yogurt nibs. We saw some funny signs and stopped to pose with a few monuments along the way.

After about four hours in the car, we landed in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We found an affordable hotel and changed for dinner. Our friend JRam pointed us in the right direction and we headed to “the square”. We found this Mexican place that seemed decent enough. Looks were deceiving to say the least. We ordered margaritas that were undrinkable and the food looked and tasted like dog food. I didn’t eat but one bite and the management and service was terrible. We left starving and with a $60.01 tab! (The waiter got the infamous penny tip. It was THAT bad.) We hit the Chick-fil-A drive thru but couldn’t seem to recover from our mood spoiling dinner. We ended up settling in at the hotel for the night and watching a movie. We won’t be going back and we were not fans of the people there. The people seemed to change immediately for the better after crossing back into Oklahoma. Home sweet home. It wasn’t the most fun thing I’ve checked off the list but I can say I’ve done it!
